There's nowhere quite like Jersey for bagels. They come in all shapes and sizes, some stacked to the gills with Taylor ham. You have to be careful about how you ask for ham; they can kind of work out whereabouts you're from. All the questions start to come out after that. If you don't ask for Taylor ham, there's a whole like, uh, history about east and west and garden fences with Taylor ham. I'm getting looked at like no, there's nothing weird like that. No, but they can work out where you're from, right? Based on it's either Taylor ham or pork roll, right? It's North Jersey, South Jersey, North Jersey, South Jersey.
Today, this bagel is very compact, not loads of meat. It's a really, really crispy sesame bagel, and I'm honestly just recording this little voice note because there really is nowhere else I've had such a good bagel than Jersey. Like, I've had them from the West Coast, I've had them in England, I've had them in Europe. I've had some bloody good breads from Europe, but the Jersey bagel is definitely something that you should hunt out, especially if you're on a trip to New York City because it has some pretty good bagels. Utopia Bagels, I think, are pretty good in the city, but, um, sesame one today? Gorgeous!
Going back to it, thanks very much. Bagels, Jersey, the best!
